The people, groups, and organizations in the list below have been nominated for the Filk Hall of Fame but have not yet been inducted.
People, groups, and organizations who have been both nominated and inducted appear in the list of Inductees by Name. Anyone whose name appears in neither that list nor this one hasn’t yet been nominated for the Hall of Fame; please nominate folks missing from these lists who you feel made meaningful contributions to the filk community using the form located here.
Notes
- To the best of our knowledge, all nominees are listed by the names that they currently prefer (or most recently preferred before their death). Some nominees in this list were previously known by (and possibly are still better known by) other names, because of marriage, divorce, gender transition, or other name changes. If a deadname, an otherwise incorrect name, or an incorrectly spelled name appears here, please let us know so we can fix the entry.
- A small number of people appearing in this list are already in the Filk Hall of Fame as a member of a group or organization; they are named here because they have also been nominated (but not yet inducted) as individuals.
- Nominations vary greatly in length and substance. Just because a name appears here does not imply that enough details about their contributions to the filk community exist in current nominations to make it likely for them to win induction. Please submit a nomination here for anyone about whom you feel strongly: more information about a nominee is always better, and can improve someone’s chances to be inducted.
- Similarly, nominations vary greatly in age; some people on this list are still active in filk, but their most recent nomination was submitted twenty or more years ago. If someone on this list has made recent contributions that you feel the Hall of Fame jury should be aware of, please likewise submit a nomination to the form above.
- An earlier version of this list was posted online years ago, but subsequent objections arguing that various people didn’t “deserve” to be nominated became divisive enough that the list had to be removed. Keep in mind that regardless of what you might think of people, groups, or organizations who appear in this list, someone thought enough of them to submit a nomination for them. We will remove the list again if further public discussion occurs suggesting that anyone on this list did not “merit” having been nominated.
