Margaret Davis – 2026

Margaret Davis has been making extraordinary contributions to filk fandom since 1989, as a performer, a collaborator with other filk musicians, and as a multi-talented supporter.

As an employee at Wail Songs from 1992 to 1995, she created the art for many of their releases. She found a cassette submitted by Ju Honisch that had been languishing unheard, and convinced Bob Laurent to publish it, which was the first introduction of German filk to the world-wide community.

In 1993, she co-founded Flowinglass Music with her husband, Kristoph Klover. She does most of the administrative work, supports the engineering, provides art, does layout for many of the releases, and serves as web designer. She produced Diana Paxson’s two recordings, “The Wandering,” and “Jewel Songs,” and co-wrote the music for “Snow White: The Mirror’s Revenge” with Kristoph. That album was nominated for a Hugo award, and came close to winning. She produced Cynthia McQuillin’s album “Witch’s Dance,” and recorded harp, flute, and vocals on many of her recordings. After Cyndi’s death, Margaret kept her recordings alive and continued to make them available to filkers and fans.

She brings an unusually wide range of musical styles to recordings, and on stage. She acts as a bridge between filk, folk, and musical healing.

As a performer, Margaret is always professional and prepared. Her vocal and instrumental abilities and energetic stage presence draw audiences wherever she goes. She is a talented singer, and performs solo, in a duo with Kristoph, and in two other bands, Broceliande and Avalon Rising. She has performed as studio musician playing flute, harp, and vocal backups on many filk recordings. She also plays therapeutic harp music as one of the Healing Muses.

She teaches beginning recorder at every convention at which she and Kristoph are guests, helping beginning musicians find a way to express their gifts.

She has been a member of the Consonance Concom for many years, and served as a member of the sound team, among other roles. She has done similar work for Baycon.

She is a pillar of the filk community, and is encouraging, good-natured and kind.

For these contributions to filk music and the filk community, Margaret Davis is inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame this eighteenth day of April, two thousand and twenty-six.
